The State of the Website Address: Year Three
by Jason DeShaw

Greetings PsychoNoble Faithful,

Another year has passed for PsychoNoble.com and thus it is time for another State of the Website Address.  Now that we have turned three, it is time to take a look back at our third year and reminisce.  Then we shall take a sneak peak at the year to come.

Perhaps our biggest milestone reached during our third year was the posting of our 100th article.  While it was only a little into our third year as a .com when this was accomplished (January 18th 2007), in reality it took much longer.  As some of you may or may not know, we weren't always a .com website.  In fact, we existed for years on free domains while we slowly built up our site.  If you take a look back at some of our very first articles, I imagine you could see how much we've grown (hopefully) from first year high schoolers to fourth year college students.  The best part though about how long it took to reach 100 articles is that we are on a much faster pace to hit 200!  As of this writing we are at number 125 and in a few years will most likely have broken 200.  Go us.

But we ain't no one act show, nuh uh!  Our Events section has had a few interesting updates.  The PS3 Adventure followed me and some friends on our quest for a PS3 on release day for the sole means of making money.  Brady continued his ongoing event Life in the Upper Midwest in which we find out Fargo is full of hicks.  And finally there was the short lived event of Boffing.

Our front page had a little clean up since last year.  We've added some stuff, removed some stuff, and updated some stuff to hopefully make for a better overall display.  Some of the things added include a 'Best Of' section as well as an area focused on Pathetic Tributes.

Speaking of Pathetic Tributes, we have all intention of making this a big part of our site.  While our only actual addition was Alex's Country Music Classics, we have a few ideas for some more (one pretty much just has to get typed up).  There are two main reasons we want to get these up.  One, they are a fun way to show off the stuff we like in a more in-depth way than a plain ol' article.  And two, they pull in LOTS of traffic.  Yeah, so sue us.  The Bill Brasky Tribute from day one has been popular, but the Doug Tribute is easily the most popular thing on our site when it comes to gathering outside traffic.  In fact, it's been so popular it has become a problem (way too many people linking directly to the images, sucking up huge amounts of bandwidth).  We have found a solution to that though.  Instead of frowning upon it, we look at it as a means of advertisement.  Thus, we replace the little picture with this...

Problem solved.

Does that make us jerks?  I'd have to say no, but then again, I am me.

We've also had a couple of brand new additions to our site over the past year that are sure to be sticking around for years to come.  The first and probably the biggest is we finally launched our Store.  Now you too can look cool in fancy PsychoNoble memorabilia!  You know you want it.  This also opens up more options for us as well (Contest prizes anyone?  It could be in the works...).

Another thing that happened quite spontaneously was our PsychoNoble Films section.  During our PsychoNoble reunion this past summer we were struck by inspiration.  Who knew a couple of dorks talking about Krispy Kreme Donuts could lead to so much?  We've only got a few films up, but there will be more.  I guarantee it!*

There has also been the continued effort of creating a PsychoNoble online community.  We've always had the Message Boards, but since then we've tried some other outlets such as a YouTube Channel and more recently our Facebook Group.  I encourage any of you who have a Facebook account to join up as it's a great way to stay up-to-date with PsychoNoble happenings as well as see who else is involved.  And as always, the Message Boards are still around and active.  We'd love for you to stop by and chat with us!  Remember, we need your support.  If you like us, let us know, swing by the Message Boards, and tell your friends.  You are the PsychoNoble Faithful!  Thank you.

What does PsychoNoble's future hold?  Hopefully much more of all the things I've touched on.  We always have lots of ideas, some of which actually reach the site.  I've been working on something big for awhile now and got a little side tracked, but hopefully that'll be up soon.  We have at least one Pathetic Tribute almost ready to go.  We have a contest idea in the works.  And even some bigger site related things could be coming your way.  So make sure to stay tuned and I'll see you back here in a year for the next State of the Website Address.

Jason Out!

*Guarantee not actually guaranteed, but I'll try!
