Brinkster's Scam
by Jason DeShaw
"Brinkster, what happened to you man? You used to be so cool."
"I'm still cool! I'm still cool!"
"No way man, now you are just a sell out."
"But... but..."
"Talk to the hand."
If Brinkster was a person, that would have been the conversation I had with them. For those of you who don't know, Brinkster is our web hosting service which brings this very site to you. Brinkster seemed to be the best bet out there for us cheap skates who don't want to pay money. I mean come on, 30MB of free space (not to mention simplicity). So how can you pass that up for free?
Well the bastards screwed us. Now we got these banners popping up on every page. We arn't talking small banners either, these are huge fucking "lets take up a whole side of the page" banners. If you made it here I'm sure you have noticed them by now. Now, a few banners are to be expected with a free service, I can deal with that. What makes me angry is this...

That's right, WE have to pay THEM to get the ads off the site. Oh, and yeah, its a per month payment. Ok ok, so I would be paying to NOT have ads on my site. Normally, I would be GETTING paid to have ads on the site, this is what we call a "sell out". I am not a sell out, but if I was forced to become one, I would at least want the money part out of it. But No, these fucks will make me pay minimum $1.95 a month just to remove the ads. Some free service.
Ugh! It just makes me unbelievably angry. Brinkster, you were our savior, now you will be our death. Maybe we will all pitch in a few dollars for a .com. Of course, you can always tell us what you think, or if you have any better web hosting sites, by sending us an email at psychonoble@lycos.com Edit: We are a .com which renders this last paragraph useless. Yep. -Jason (2004)
So yeah, I thought this article was going to be longer. Oh well, fuck it.
