It's really quite
hard to believe that PsychoNoble.com is now officially two years old.
I feel like just yesterday I was just writing
The State
of the Website Address: Year One and here I am doing Year Two.
Crazy. Any-hoo, the
reason for this article is quite simple; take a look back at the year
that was and take a look into the year that will be.
This year has been an eventful (forgive the pun)
year for our Events section. It started off deep in the Fargo
winter where The Fargo Home Office took sledding to the XTREME!
Incorporating playground equipment and shovels set to the tune of White
Wedding, Brady, Jordan, and Alex greatly expanded on the original Xtreme Sledding
idea. And of course Jordan
almost killed himself. It was a grand Event.
Back in the Pacific Northwest, I did my own winter
event, Winter in the West. Myself and Matt experienced just what
winter life was like in the greater Seattle area as we had snowball
fights with tennis balls, made mud angels, and constructed a snow man
out of logs. The Fargo
based Events did not stop with Xtreme Sledding though, as Brady
introduced the ongoing Event know as Life in the Upper Midwest.
LUM takes a look at just what life can be like when you have nothing to
do. This introduced more videos that involved everything from
Anthropology to Wrestling. Ok, that was just one of the videos,
but really, there's a bunch. And of course there is the latest
addition to LUM, Doltbots. It answers the question of what happens
when you combine Battlebots with the Upper Midwest. I think it's
the best thing yet. I
also had one final Miscellaneous event in year two which was my trip to Comic-Con
International in San Diego. It was a nerd's dream come true.
I'm not sure what the future for Events holds, as
I have retired from Freestyle Walking and haven't heard much on the
Fargo front, but rest assured we will think of something.
As of this writing we are nearly approaching our
100th Article. It's amazing to think that we really have that much
to say, but we do and they keep coming. Articles are the
foundation of PsychoNoble and will continue to be as such for as far as
I can see. Reviews, on
the other hand, are still lacking. We had a few additions this
year, but when compared to the amount of Articles being put up, Reviews
could use a good boost. As last year my goal was more Events
(which I feel was achieved), this year I would like to focus more of my
personal efforts on Reviews and Pathetic Tributes.
We didn't have any new Pathetic Tributes this year
even though we have a few planned. I think the reason these things
don't get done is they are really pretty big projects. They
usually require some research as well as pages of material. Even
so, I think in the end they are worth it, as the two we have (Bill
Brasky, Doug Funnie) bring in huge amounts of traffic to our site.
Speaking of huge projects that aren't getting
finished, Story of Trek continues to be one of those things that take
forever to get done. We made some progress during the Summer with
the PsychoNoble Summit, but we are still far from finished. Alex
says that when we are finally finished, he will make The Story of Story
of Trek. Stay tuned for that in about 8 years.
This year we introduced the Multimedia section,
where we can post randomness that doesn't fit anywhere else as well as
some desktops and buddy icons for the general public. I think this
is a good addition to the site and while still quite small, will be a
mainstay for years to come.
We've slowly been putting together a real store
for the site, but for now it seems somewhat stalled. We have a few
things cooking, but until we actually have more than a FSW Pillow, I
don't think the store will go up.
The Crazygame.exe High Score Contest still remains
one of the more popular features on our site. The high scores are
beginning to become untouchable without dedicating your life to
Crazygame, but alas new scores keep coming in as well as generating lots
of traffic. There is a demand for Crazygame!
I'd say something about the Message Boards, but I
feel like what I said in Year One still holds true, so I'm just going to
copy and paste what I wrote then for you now...
As you can see, I
like to plug the Message Boards a lot. This is because I believe that
having a strong community is necessary for a prosperous website. Although
our Message Boards are anything but popular, they are active and add to the
website experience. Often I post news that isn't found on the main website
or ask for people's thoughts on different topics. It's a great way to get
in touch with the people who run this site directly and voice your own opinions
of things you want to see. There are also the great off-topic banters such
as Skeletons Vs Zombies which was brought to our attention by our own Brady
Lewis. So if you have time, stop by and say "hi".
Now onto some fun facts about
the year that was! -So
far this year we've had over 42,000 visits.
-In October, 9 out of 10 searches that found our
site were either Bill Brasky or Doug Funnie related. The other was
Crazygame.exe -The FSW
video Sabotage is generating way too much traffic. I speculate
someone is linking to it directly from a myspace account, those jerks.
-As opposed to last year, there were no threatened
lawsuits! Hoorah! -In October, 12% of our visitors came from Brazil... how odd...
So what does the future for PsychoNoble hold?
I speak only for myself with this, but I'd like to see more Pathetic
Tributes and Reviews, completion of Story of Trek, and more activity on
the Message Boards. Will any of these things happen in the next
year? Stay tuned for State of the Website Address: Year Three to
find out!
