Battle Report - March 18th, 2007

Page 1

Woodmont - 2pm: We had five people in attendance.  Myself, Matt, his brother Andrew, Tony, and Sean.  Our plan for the day was to test out two different games created, one by Sean and one by Matt.  These games were created to help put our boffing into more of a context.  A better over all theme if you will.  Both games, I would say, are considered to be in their Beta versions, as they both have a few kinks to work out.

We decided we would test out Sean's game first (I should also mention that neither game yet has an actual title).  We split up into teams, myself and Sean vs. Matt and Andrew, and designate Tony to be the official photographer of the match.

Sean's game is a capture-the-flag type game with a few modifications.  Each player gets two pieces on the board (thus each team gets 4) and each piece gets three cards which give you certain advantages.  Some must be played right away while others can be saved for later.  As a team you roll four dice, take the sum, and that is how much movement you have total for all 4 of the team's pieces.  Each piece can only move 6 spaces a turn.

I realize I am going into a lot of specifics, which are not the most important.  The biggest thing is that it is capture the flag, and that when your pieces battle on the board, the teams boff to decide the outcome.

The first battle begins

We circle for awhile to scope out each other before we attack

A few battles go by and the team of Matt and Andrew are quickly approaching our flag.  As they reach it, we go head on to stop them.

Sean, low on hit points, is quickly eliminated...

Leaving me in a 2 vs. 1 scenario

I take a bad step and tumble to the ground.  My good friends help me by stabbing me repeatedly to make sure I'm eliminated, then walk away in victory.

The battle was lost.  This is also where we first realized one of the major flaws in Sean's game.  Since each piece can only move a maximum of 6 spaces a turn, there was no possible way to actually catch up and regain our flag.  Thus, the match was over.

Over all Sean's game has promise, but we decided some work needs to be done, so scenarios such as above, don't happen as easily.

On to Page 2 where we try Matt's game >>>
