Battle Report - March 18th, 2007

Page 2

Up next was Matt's game (we really need to get some titles).  I've played Matt's game once before and we did a 1 vs. 1 vs. 1.  This time though we are doing a 2 on 2 match.  We switch up the teams so it is myself and Andrew vs. Sean and Matt.  The biggest difference between Sean and Matt's game is that Matt's game is much more like Risk.  When you die, you are gone, as opposed to Sean's game where you would come back a few turns later.  Each team begins with a set amount of pieces (armies) and a castle.  The object is to take your opponents castle.

And it's all in one easy carrying case!

Since this is more of a game based on Risk, it takes a little longer than Sean's game, so I can't give you a round by round match-up as easily.  They just sort of blend together.  What I can do though is give you some of the highlights.

Right off the bat, both teams took advantage of the cards they drew at the beginning of the game.  Oddly enough, almost everything canceled out each other and it was an even battle to start.

Andrew getting in a body shot (5 points!)

I include this picture because of the sheer hilarity.  The faces both me and Sean are making are priceless

One notable thing that happened during one battle was Andrew's glasses got knocked off and we had to call time-out.  For some reason, I just don't see this happening in any other hand to hand battles of the times.

And another wonderful face from myself

This is where we start to enter End Game.  In Matt's game, there are cards that allow you a First Strike Duel maneuver, which is basically you get one free shot on your enemy who can only attempt to block it with their weapon.  Luckily, our team had two of these in hand and used them both.

CHHHAARRGGEEEE!!!

The Chaos of the First Strike Duel

Oddly enough we only managed to take them down a few hit points after two of these.  We began to walk off the field when we realized that we were to now begin our actual battle, and quickly had to get back into formation.  If I remember correctly, we had quite the advantage.  Both myself and Andrew had 20 hit points with both Matt and Sean at 10 or less a piece.

Me attempting some fancy maneuvering

And failing

This picture is probably my favorite.  Pure intensity in the heat of battle!

Sean is eliminated, but Matt is still holding his own, getting in another body shot on me

But the numbers begin to catch up

And Matt finally falls

The castle is ours!

Over all a really fun game.  Like Sean's, it still has a few problems it needs to get worked out, but works well for now.

After a few big games, Matt, Sean, and Andrew had a little exhibition match.  The game is called the Monster Game.  The way it works is one person is the 'monster' and carries a gigantic weapon and usually two or more people are up against him.  The Monster Weapon does double damage.

Did I mention the weapon was gigantic?

Yet not always the easiest to wield

Matt, in FSW fashion, deals the final blow
