Freestyle Walking 2004: A Year In Review
by Jaybird

Introduction

The year of 2004 was a memorable one.  It brought about such things as the end of high school, summer jobs (or summer laziness in my case), and the start of college.  Things such as these impeded what was known as Freestyle Walking.  Freestyle Walking was becoming just a memory in the minds of the walkers.  Only one FSW excursion occurred, early in the year (more on this later), with much left to be desired.  The dream that was Freestyle Walking was slowly fading away.  And then, the unthinkable happened...

A virus struck my computer.  The same computer that held all of the FSW pictures, all of the FSW videos, and all of the FSW raw footage.  It will forever be known to me as the The Great Crash of '04.  There was little time and I had to save what I could, with only a few CDs at my disposal.  The pictures and a few videos were all I could manage to save, but the raw footage was gone forever.  All of the unedited tricks, excursions, and great moments were lost.  All that is left now is what is documented on this site, oh how precious it is.

A dark age fell upon Freestyle Walking.  It seemed as though everything that was worked so hard for, had been lost forever.  Months passed with out even a mention of the sport.  There was nothing left.  Nothing, except perhaps, hope... within a few individuals.  They knew that if there was a chance to keep FSW alive, it must be taken.

Now it is time to rebuild.  From the ashes of FSW, we must start a new.  We must acquire the greatness we once had and then surpass it.  Freestyle Walking 2004 is that story.  Home from college, away from the burdens of school and work, we have rejoined to recreate our past greatness... Freestyle Walking has been reborn.

Now, continue on to the story.  It is a unique story, one worth continuing on into the next year.  Read, remember, and believe.
